Understanding Chemical Exfoliation

Another popular way is to exfoliate with active ingredients such as AHAs and retinol to dissolve the bonds between dead cells. This is magical sloughing!

AHAs like glycolic and lactic acid are holy grail ingredients for exfoliating dry skin because they break down the mesh between dead skin cells which can then be easily swept away.

If you have dry skin that refuses to be hydrated even after applying layers of moisturizer, you need an AHA serum or chemical peel to remove the dead layer.

Because AHAs are water-soluble, they can only remove skin cells on the skin's surface. BHAs, on the other hand, are oil-soluble and can be used to treat acne.

Salicylic acid is a well-known BHA that can easily penetrate deep into the skin pores and dissolve blackheads and acne-causing bacteria and magic ice globes.
